Crawford House is a private, not-for-profit agency providing transitional housing and treatment to women in early recovery from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol. Based on the Twelve Step recovery model of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Crawford House program facilitates physical, emotional and spiritual healing in a safe and mutually supportive community.
Established over three decades ago, the mission of Crawford House has remained the same - to help its residents learn healthy behaviors, achieve active employment and build sober support systems so that they can become productive members of society.
Crawford House offers an intensive, comprehensive and highly-individualized six-month program. Admission is open to women residents of New Jersey, eighteen years or older who are indigent, homeless, free of substance use for at least fourteen days, employable and free of communicable diseases (tuberculosis). Crawford House is the only half-way house in New Jersey that serves only indigent and homeless women.
Crawford House is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Department of Addiction Services, and is accredited by CARF International.
In 2009, Crawford House provided 7,548 bed days of sobriety to 92 women who came from throughout the state of New Jersey. Many of the residents were young mothers. After completing their treatment, they return to their communities as healthier parents, daughters, sisters and employees.
