I believe mediation is the best route for a couple contemplating divorce. It is an avenue that is growing in popularity as many people recognize its tremendous advantages. Mediation is a process by which an impartial third party, the mediator, assists you in reaching an agreement. You, as the participants, make the important decisions that will so seriously impact your future, with the goal being meeting the best interests of you and your children. When you meet with me we will use all of the information you have exchanged and will craft an agreement that will address both parties concerns under the circumstances. You have the central role in the process. The mediation sessions are confidential. Although this is not litigation driven, I very strongly recommend that each party consult with his or her own attorney during the process to obtain advice and ultimately prepare your property settlement agreement.
Mediation will save you money and heartache. Very often in the litigation process--that is when the parties, through their attorneys, choose to go to court--communciation breaks down and resentment, suspicion, and anger take over. As a result, you end up spending a great deal of money on legal fees and often end up reaching an agreement at the courthouse under great pressure or allowing a judge to make these very important decisions for you.
Do not assume that because you and your spouse are hurt and resentful that mediation is not for you. These are normal feelings to have when going through a divorce. It is the exceptional case that cannot be mediated.
According to Adminstrative Office of the Court statistics, more than 97% of matrimonial cases settle. Why not take a sane, economical, approach to settlement for what will probably be one of the most painful, personal things you will encounter in your life?

At times, couples are simply unable to engage in the mediation process and/or it is otherwise inappropriate and litigation becomes necessary. Should you require litigation assistance, I will handle your matter zealosly, diligently and with expertise. I am also available to consult with parties going through the mediation process and will, of course, represent you in settlement negotiations, which should always be utilized during litigation in any event.
Bar Admissions - Committee on Character
If you have sat for the New Jersey Bar Exam and are encountering questioning and/or a hearing by the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character, I am available for consultation and representation during your hearing process. I have the unique experience of having served as an attorney to the Committee on Character for four years and have participated in numerous hearings before them. I also have appeared before the New Jersey Supreme Court. I am uniquely qualified to help you navigate through what, to most of the public, is a largely unfamiliar process. I know your license to practice law is at stake and will handle your matter with the utmost diligence.
