After 20 years as a human resources professional and 13 years of motherhood, Dottie Page was hungering for a career that would allow her to develop and express her creative talents. Several designers had attempted to recruit her into their businesses, but Dottie declined those opportunities because she did not want to spend her time, effort, or emotions managing contractors. She had experience managing contractors while building and renovating the nine homes that she and her family had lived in over a span of 15 years. Her belief was that the frustration of manging contractors would stifle her creativity. So, she birthed Ancient of Days Antiques… and home decor, a retail operation in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Dottie said, “I took some risks hoping that people would buy the same things I liked.” She designs vignettes and shows people the traditional and nontraditional ways to use a mix of new merchandise and treasures from the past.
