Jim Barnabei never planned on getting into the restaurant business. He was running the Wildwood liquor store founded by his parents when his cousin, a lawyer and real estate business owner, called him to suggest they take a look at an eatery available in Avalon. The space turned out to be too good to pass up and Jim and Nancy Barnabei opened what would soon become one of the best Avalon New Jersey restaurants, the Concord Café, in 1989.
Now well-known among anyone looking for the best restaurants in Avalon and the surrounding area, the Concord Café has evolved into a full-fledged restaurant and one of the most popular Avalon bars with a huge menu. Celebrating more than 26 years in business, it’s safe to say it’s an island icon—a must-visit for Jersey Shore vacationers and a much-loved American restaurant by locals.
