The Taste of Fine Southern & Caribbean Cuisine
Located at 103 Forrest Street, Montclair, Sweet Potato & Pecan sits on the grounds of the former Murphy's, an eatery which served as a gathering place for young people in the community in the 1960s.The owners, Ricardo and Phillip, have been lifelong friends with a dream of opening a restaurant. After culinary training and sixteen years experience as a Pastry Chef at some of the most prestigious hotels in NYC, Ricardo decided it was time to make the dream a reality. In 2002 he and Phillip took the boarded up Murphy's and build Sweet Potato & Pecan.
Sweet Potato & Pecan is a gathering place where everyone can enjoy the finest Caribbean and Southern cuisine prepared daily with love and devotion. In addition to the daily menu, an extensive catering menu is offered. This allows Ricardo to really showcase his creativity and passion for food.
In 2007 Sweet Potato & Pecan celebrated its 5th anniversary. Ricardo and Phillip are grateful for the support they have received form their customers.
