Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child!

Experience Music Together to find out how important -- and how much fun -- your role can be! Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement and teaches them how to make their own music through song, dance, chanting and instrument play.

This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth through age four through all nine MusicTogether song collections. This basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers — grouping children of a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together. Each child participates at his or her own level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, or exploring musical instruments.The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience. Any caregiver — parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children.

Every child’s development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger at the time of registration may attend a Mixed Ages Class, either on their own or with an older brother or sister. Babies may also take the special “Infant Class” offered as a one-semester introduction to Music Together. (This class cannot be repeated.) The music activities and materials are specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about music development in babies. Meet other parents of newborns and learn some fascinating music activities you can recreate at home with your baby.

This class is an extension of our mixed-ages class with the addition of story songs, game songs, jam sessions, dramatic play and more structured work with rhythm, tonality and rounds. Please note: Younger siblings are not developmentally ready for the structure of these classes; therefore, except for babies eight months and younger, only children in the specified age range and their adults may attend these classes.

Please note that the last week of our Fall semester ends the week of Thanksgiving. Because this is such a big travel week for families, we are canceling all of our class that week and ending the semester the following week. Enjoy the holiday!

FALL/WINTER SCHEDULE
Registration for our Fall 2010 semester is now officially closed. Our Winter semester is scheduled to begin the week after New Years. Please check our website in December for registration and class listings for our Winter semester.

Great News! Erin Lee Kelly is back! I know that many of you are jumping for joy, because Erin (one of our most popular teachers at the Newport Fitness Center) is coming back to New Jersey. While she was away, Erin has been busy writing, recording and winning awards for her outstanding childrens CD's. She is currently performing with her band, Erin Lee and the Up Past Bedtime Band and will begin teaching for us again this Fall on Thursday afternoons at the Hudson Athletic Club. Check out her 3:30pm Big Kids Class. This is a new after school class for 4-7 yr. olds.
We are also thrilled to let you know that Broadway Actor/Singer John Kuether, who is currently in "The Phantom Of The Opera" has recently joined our staff. John will be teaching our Wednesday morning class at the Newport Fitness Center as well as our new weekend classes at the CASE Museum in Jersey City. For all of our working JC Moms & Dads, this is the class for you.
In addition to Erin & John, Actress/Singer Jenny Madden will also be joining our staff. Jenny has been a voiceover artist for Pokémon and has performed both in New York and regionally in productions of Night Must Fall, The Yellow Wallpaper, The Elephant Man: The Musical, Kiss Me, Kate, and Godspell.

Attending a Free Demo Class is the best way for NEW FAMILIES to experience what a Music Together class is really like. We will run our next round of demo classes in December, before our Winter semester begins. Please check our website the first week of December for the new schedule.
