Cordless Telephones: Knowing How They Work, Helps You Choose The One Best For You

The addition of cordless telephones into the ever-expanding range of telephone models has brought on a great deal of convenience to its users. This is because not only are these phones handy, lightweight, sleek and attractive, they are also portable as well. As they are cordless, these telephones have also done away with the need for messy and hazardous wirings as well as complex installation processes. This makes these phones the most convenient communication equipment that you can have in your home or even in your office. Aside from this, these portable cordless phones also grant you the kind of flexibility that you were not able to experience with the corded phones that could not be carried around anywhere within the range of its base.

These units are parts of a two-piece equipment that is comprised of a base unit and a handset. Now, the base units of these cordless telephones operate as standard phones. This is because they still need to be connected to the main phone jack. The handset also needs an AC power cord for its charging.

The principle behind the make-up of these telephones is based on the radio because its transmission and receipt of signals make use of high frequency radio waves. The signals received by these cordless telephones are then decoded so that they turn into sounds and are then made audible. The base unit of these cordless telephones will be the recipient of the incoming calls that are coursed through the phone line and it is also the one responsible for converting these into FM radio signals. Once converted, the transmission of these signals to the handset then ensues and decoding of these signals follows after.

Every time the handset gets the radio signals coming from the base unit, it then converts these signals into electrical signals, which are then decoded to become digital sounds. So, when a person is speaking into a handset, there will be a conversion of his voice into signals and these are also sent right to the base unit by way of an FM signal. Once the base unit receives these, conversion into electric signals and transmission of these via phone lines to the person calling is also done.

So, while this is just a brief look into how cordless phones work, you have to understand that these are also dependent on the frequency strength of the receipt and transmission of signals. As such, if your unit operate on a higher frequency signal then this will result in better quality of the sounds that you will be hearing from your handset. It will also be beneficial to the range function of your handset when you are using it at a distance from the base unit. To Assist you here are the current frequencies availbale from lowest to highest (call quality) 900mhz, 2.4ghz. 5.8ghz, DECT 6.0 (being the best).
