The Comprehensive Learning Center, Inc. (CLC), a non-profit corporation, was established in September of 2000 to provide an educational environment committed to ensuring quality, effective instructional and treatment services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. To help meet the needs of each student, CLC's program provides a highly individualized education program that is based on the scientifically validated procedures of applied behavior analysis. CLC is devoted to improving the lives of individuals with autism ranging from 3 years of age through adulthood. Services provided to CLC students include education in all academic areas, as well as skill development in all aspects of daily life, including increased participation in family and community activities.
Current CLC families reside in Berks, Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Several of these students travel over 35 miles each way to our education program on a daily basis. Their families believe that traveling this great distance is outweighed by the benefits of the quality services provided by CLC.
The success of CLCs program is directly related to the ongoing support of its sister organization, The AJ Foundation for Children with Autism. The AJ Foundation conducts fundraising activities to offset the deficit between funding provided and the actual costs of providing services. The staff and families of CLC extend our heartfelt thanks to our founder and The AJ Foundations President, Joanne Corless, and the entire AJ Foundation organization for their ongoing efforts and support.
The Comprehensive Learning Centers primary mission is to ensure that each of its students reaches their maximum potential through an intensive, comprehensive education and treatment program based on the scientifically validated procedures of applied behavior analysis. The Comprehensive Learning Center intends to prepare its students to be as independent, self-sufficient, and socially adept as possible while they participate in their education, family and community activities. The school is dedicated to insuring that all services are designed and delivered with respect to the dignity and uniqueness of each student. The Comprehensive Learning Center recognizes that families are integral participants in the education and treatment of their sons and daughters, and therefore requires active involvement from family members.
