Downtown Westfield is one of the 32 main street communities in New Jersey. The Downtown Westfield Corporation uses the Main Street ApproachTM that was developed by the National Trust's National Main Street Center in 1980 to assist downtown revitalization efforts nationwide. Four elements create this program: Organization, Economic Restructuring, Design and Promotion.

Economic Restructuring involves analyzing current market forces to develop long-term solutions. Recruiting new businesses, creatively converting unused space for new uses, and sharpening the competitiveness of Main Street's entrepreneurial merchants are examples of economic restructuring activities.

Economic committee meetings are usually the 1st Tuesday of the month. These dates are subject to change depending upon availability of the volunteers.

In our 48th season The Choral Art Society of New Jersey is a not-for-profit community chorus, dedicated to the study and performance of great choral works, and has earned accolades of the public and critics since its beginnings. James S. Little, our extraordinary Music Director since 1999, is seated front and center.
The CAS performs two concerts each year, accompanied by the Choral Art Society Orchestra and professional soloists. We rehearse in each Tuesday, September through May, from 8:00 to 10:00 PM in choir room at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, 140 Mountain Avenue at Broad Street in Westfield, New Jersey.

The Friends of Mindowaskin Park is a non-profit organization founded in the early 1990's to revitalize the park. The mission of the Friends of Mindowaskin Park is to ensure the long-term enjoyment of this passive public park by the Town of Westfield. We work independently, but in cooperation with the Town to protect the historical significance of the park and maintain the park. Through the efforts of the organization, the park has been designated an historic site. The Friends of Mindowaskin has raised over $500,000 over the years to improve the park and have appropriated 97% of the proceeds directly back into the park (a statistic unmatched by many non-profits). Your tax deductible donation is greatly appreciated.

Mindowaskin Park celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2008. In 2007 The Friends of Mindowaskin Park have devoted their efforts to the restoration of the Historic Bandstand, with the Friends contributing $76,000 to the Town of Westfield, continuing their on-going public/private partnership. We look forward to our next project of renovation the walk at The Bandstand in a similar fashion to the Overlook project, including personalized stones. In 2002, The Friends rededicated the Overlook on East Broad Street. Using the original 1930 plans, the Friends raised over $100,000 for granite to be installed over and above the Town of Westfield's contribution for concrete.

The concert series was established to strengthen our community by bringing people together around a musical event and raising money for worthy causes in the process. Each concert features a professional & touring singer/songwriter. All net proceeds from the concerts are split evenly between three of the following five local charities: Habitat for Humanity, The Community Foodbank of NJ, The Eric Johnson House in Morristown, The Interfaith Council for the Homeless, The Central Jersey Chapter of the Names Project (AKA the AIDS Quilt).
