Women who undergo mammograms at Radiology Associates of Ridgewood New Jersey now have the latest generation of diagnostic technology available to them -- digital mammography.

Digital mammography allows high resolution images of the breast to be viewed by radiologists and also offers a unique ability to enhance certain areas of the breast. On a computer following the mammogram, a radiologist can magnify the image, increase or decrease contrasting shades, and invert black and white values while reading the images. These image enhancements improve diagnostic potential and limit radiation exposure.
To supplement this technology, we have incorporated digital Computer-Aided Detection (CAD). Digital CAD highlights characteristics commonly associated with breast cancer. When activated, it flags abnormalities to help a radiologist detect early breast cancer.

Radiology Associates of Ridgewood has been designated as an American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.This designation is given to Centers that demonstrate excellence in all phases of breast imaging,including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound guided breast biopsy. Radiology Associates has recently acquired Siemen's Axiom Luminos dRF fluoroscopy system. We are proud to be one of the first imaging centers in North America to offer a remarkably convenient and efficient system designed for the complete spectrum of patient profiles. The system combines digital fluoroscopy, a dynamic way to evaluate body function such as the esophagus during swallowing ,with digital plain radiographs, the equivalent of the modern day x-rays. Ease of use, Image quality, Radiation reduction and DICOM capability make this system a perfect match for our patients.
Radiology Associates new 64 slice CT technology lowers radiation dose of Coronary CT angiography by 70%!

Using the GE LightSpeed VCT XT, image quality is maintained while reducing a patient’s radiation exposure by up to 70 percent in diagnostic cardiac scans. Building on the foundation of prior CT platforms, the LightSpeed VCT XT is capable of capturing images of the heart and coronary arteries in as few as five heartbeats. Using “SnapShot Pulse”, the LightSpeed VCT XT reduces a patient’s x-ray exposure time using a process called prospective-triggered gating. In standard cardiac CT examinations, x-ray energy is delivered for the duration of the scan, even during periods when a patient’s heart is moving too fast for optimal diagnostic imaging. “SnapShot Pulse” introduces a timed, automated response to a patient’s heart rate, ensuring the x-ray is only on for the portions of the scan when the heart is relatively still. The technique is not appropriate for everyone, and may not be used in patients with faster or more irregular heart rates. But up to 90% of patients get a “win-win” result: clearer images with less radiation dose!
