This will help to save time before your visit with the doctor.
We have also received a new vaccine in the office. We are now giving Prevnar-13 to replace Prevnar-7. This vaccine contains 13 subtypes of Streptococcus pneumonia. It will provide better protection against meningitis, blood infections, pneumonia and ear infections. We will be giving one dose of this vaccine to all children under the age of 5 who completed their Prevnar-7 series.
We have also begun to offer Gardasil to boys ages 12 and up. This vaccine has already been given for several years to girls. The vaccine provides protection against the 4 subtypes of Human Papillomavirus with the largest disease burden. It is a 3 dose series in which the second dose is given 2 months after the first dose and the third dose is given six months after the first one. In boys the vaccine protects against genital, oral, and anal warts and cancers. It will also protect against the transmission of HPV to females where it can cause cervical cancer.

The NJSIAA has issued a new Athletic Pre-Participation Physical Exam Form that is required for participation in any Junior High and High School sports programs. If your child is age 10 and older, is scheduled for a physical exam, and is going to participate in any sports in the upcoming year, you must click on the link above, print out the form, and fill out your sections of the form PRIOR to coming to the office. These forms are quite thorough and need to be reviewed by the doctor. Also, please speak to your school administrators about whether a vision screen is required for sports clearance. There will be a $10 charge for each of these forms. If you do not request a sports form at the time of your childs physical, there will be a $20 fee to have one done at a later time.
