The news is full of stories about our health. At the practice of Drs. Freeman, Grolnick, Richman and Associates, we strive to address not only our patients oral health, but also their overall health. I know you have heard the saying the eyes are the windows to the soul - in our business, the mouth is the window to the body. In our mouths, you can tell a number of health issues: diabetes, pregnancy, high blood pressure just to name a few.
As our patients visit us, we are looking not only for cavities, but also for the health of the gums and oral tissues. Many studies over the past few years have seen a correlation between people with gum (periodontal) disease and heart problems, as well as uncontrolled diabetes. Due to the many types of bacteria in our mouths, as disease sets in, these bacteria are available to the rest of the body too.
Our exam also includes a thorough oral cancer exam. The smallest lesion can turn into a grave situation if left unchecked!
So, while you are in our chair, we are evaluating YOU. We want to not only look the best that you can, but to also be the healthiest possible.
