Should you use a home center or an independent kitchen company?A new survey out by ConsumersReports.org reveals that readers who went the route of a big national home center chains had more problems and werent as satisfied overall as reader’s who used smaller independent companies. Contractors recommended or employed by manufacturers scored higher in overall satisfaction with installation, around 87 out of 100. Home centers got scores about 10 points lower. The study shows that if things went wrong, home-center contractors were less likely than others to solve problems. About a third of those who used home-center contractors remained unhappy. The study shows smaller shops stand out. Contractors not affiliated with home centers scored higher in the quality of workmanship, materials, speed of work, communication skills, and the ability to keep costs down. Contractors that readers found themselves had the lowest percentage of damaged cabinets, countertops, or other items, and had fewer items installed incorrectly. Independent kitchen company contractors were best at sticking to a timetable and had their design services rated better than one of the home centers. Contact us today!
