FROM OUR DIRECTOR...

For 23 years, the Somerset Learning Center has been serving the needs of the central New Jersey community by providing private tutoring services. We create personal learning programs and provide individual instruction to students in kindergarten to college. The Somerset Learning Center is not part of a franchised chain, and only employs certified, experienced teachers who inspire each child to succeed and make the learning process fun!

TUTORING SERVICES

From the basic level to advanced, our tutoring services can help students succeed in the following areas:

Areas of focus can include decoding, phonics and reading fluency. Reading comprehension, reading rate and vocabulary are also important areas of instruction.

For students in middle school, high school and college, instruction and homework support is offered in pre-algebra, algebra 1 & 2, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus, and statistics.
For younger students, support and skill development is offered in all areas of math, including fact mastery, computation, fractions, decimals, and problem solving.

Students learn the writing process - from generating and organizing ideas through the editing phase. Students master proper sentence and paragraph structure, as well as mecahnics and grammar skills.

Assistance with difficult school assignments is offered and new concepts are reinforced.

Students are taught important skills to study smarter and more efficiently. Areas of focus include organization, time management, listening skills, note-taking, reading textbooks, test-taking, following directions, etc..

Students are taught test taking strategies and skill improvement for the critical reading, math and writing sections.

Students improve skiils and learn strategies for the reading, math, english, science, and writing sections.

NJ ASK Preparation
Students receive content review and skill building in reading, writing, and math. Students practice taking sample tests and analyze their mistakes.

Preparation for the SSAT, ISSEE, HSPT, COOP
Individual instruction for private school entrance exams at all grade levels.
