November 20th (Saturday 10am) & November 22rd (Monday 6pm) (More classes being added--call for details) Making a Holiday Wreath Create a gorgeous wreath made from balsam, boxwood, arborvitae & other mixed evergreens. November Garden Tips:

Start Amaryllis and paperwhites inside now for blooms during the holidays
Plant up some herbs to bring in to a sunny window. We have beautiful new pots perfect for them!
Spring Bulbs have arrived--plant now for the beautiful early color of daffodils and more! We have a great Deer Resistant Collection.
Plant garlic now. (It's just another bulb)!
If your compost is ready, spread it out now. Put it around shrubs, trees, perennial beds and even your lawn. This is a great time to empty your compost bin so you can fill it up with chopped leaves.

Andre deWaal of Andre's Restaurant in Newton NJ, demonstrates his techniques using all locally grown, organic produce at our Summer Cooking Class. A lovely al fresco dining experience was had by all.

Our retail garden center has a beautiful selection of plants for you to choose from. You will notice that each plant receives personal attention and we are always on the lookout for the unusual specimen, and will help you find the special plant you want. Our selection of garden accessories is different from the rest, and we hope you'll find the perfect compliment to your landscape--perhaps an arbor, bird bath, or a garden sculpture.
A Hidden New Jersey Gem
If you live in Northern New Jersey, and you are an avid gardener who loves exploring garden centers that truly care about the product they sell, you will have a wonderful experience at Glenwild Garden Center. We love what we do, and so will you.

Alexander J. MacKenn Sr. started his landscape business in 1928, often using a team of oxen to accomplish a job. Constantly evolving and responding to the needs of the community, Alex and his wife Mabel added the retail shop in 1958. After getting a degree in Landscape Design & Horticulture, Alex Jr. started designing and running crews in 1962, and he and his father worked together for at least 20 busy years. Then the third generation came in. In 1990, Brad, now a Certified Landscape Architect, came on full time, and then Jodie started in 1992. (With a totally unrelated degree, but a love of plants and spreading the organic gardening word). The business truly is a labor of love for this family.
