India May Overtake US in Household Savings, Reaching $5 Trillion by 2020: PriceWaterhouseCoopers-Assocham Study
NEW DELHI - Savings of Indian households may overtake those of US by 2020, touching the $5 trillion mark, as the growing economy would boost incomes of people, a study has said.
"The very large household savings rate of 33.4 per cent would translate into incremental savings of $5 trillion over the next decade with growing incomes of Indian households," said the president of the Association of Chambers of Commerce in India (Assocham) Swati A Piramal recently in a statement.
Currently, the size of Indian household savings is over $330 billion, according to a study jointly done by PricehWaterhouse Coopers and Assocham. Read full story
Asian Indians Have the Highest Average Household Income Among All Immigrants, and 57% Higher than US Average
Asian Indians had the highest annual median household income of among all U.S. ethnic groups. The 2000 US Census showed that their average household income was $74,830, the highest household income of any immigrant group in the U.S. and much higher than the U.S. average. This income then jumped to $91,195 in 2005, according to the mid-decade census of the US Census Bureau, which was 57 percent higher than the average US household income of $58,082.
Asian-Indian Population Had Explosive Growth in Between 2000 to 2005, Reaching 2.32 Million

1.55 Million Asian Firms Generated $513 Billion in Receipts in 2007, a Whopping 41% Increase over 2002
In 2007, there were 1,553,871 Asian firms in the United States that generated more than $513 billion in receipts. California had the most Asian-owned firms at 509,670 (32.8 percent of all such firms), with receipts of $182.7 billion (35.6 percent of all Asian-owned firm receipts). New York was second with 196,919 Asian-owned firms or 12.7 percent, with receipts of $50.8 billion or 9.9 percent.
