HAR SINAI TEMPLE
At our home in Pennington, where our historic congregation has established new roots, we welcome anyone looking for a warm, vibrant Judaic experience. Har Sinai combines religious values along with a variety of social and educational programs designed to integrate the temple's rich traditions with the demands of contemporary life. If you are already a member, we encourage you to explore this site and choose from the many rewarding opportunities to become a more active part of our membership. If you are a prospective member, feel free to browse, join us at any of our many services, and speak with any member of our staff or clergy. Our 2421 Pennington Road location, close to I-95, is easily reached from both central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. We would love to welcome you to Har Sinai, where you will always be a member of our family.
World Renowned Artist and Recording Star
Bat Mitzvah, Sarah Dauer shares her home in Lawrenceville with her parents, a brother, a sister, two dogs, a guinea pig and a lizard named Larry.
"He lives in the basement," explains Sarah's mom, Deborah. "He's actually very colorful, like a rainbow. He's a desert lizard."
Sarah, mom Deborah, dad Adam, sister Gillian, 10, and brother Ean, 8, get along fine with the pets who are in their charge. And when Lawrence Middle School student Sarah isn't swimming, she's being what her mom calls "a pretty typical teenage girl" who has "a very good relationship with her (maternal) grandparents."
In the summer, Sarah pursues swimming with the Ben Franklin Swim Club and, in the winter, she switches to the Lawrence Lightning. Her hobbies include reading, writing, music and family history. Her goal is to become a teacher.
"She really is a hard worker," says her mom. "When she puts her mind to something, she usually accomplishes it.
For her good deed, Sarah worked as a volunteer counselor for the Lawrence Township Safety Town program, which shows students entering kindergarten how to create safe situations for themselves in everyday life. And, in an act of interfaith cooperation, Sarah and her best friend, Katy, who did it for her upcoming Confirmation, collected canned goods for the Trenton Soup Kitchen.
This year we have two classes meeting three days a week. Our new 4 year-old class meets in our recently furnished, beautiful classroom. The 3 year-old class began its second year and we welcomed a new group of first time preschoolers! We have "I've Got Rhythm" with Susan Sacks for little ones aged6 to14 months and an adult. "Toddler Time Together", for children ages 15 to 24 months, is also taught by Susan Sacks.
Our school is growing and thriving and we are very excited to begin this school year with our highly experienced staff and many great programs! Please call Magda Reyes at the Temple for more information and,as always, spread the word that Har Sinai has a terrific Early Childhood Center!
