On December 19, 2009, the Metro Chapter of NESPA (Northeast Spa and Pool Association) which is part of APSP (Association of Pool and Spa Professionals) held their annual Holiday Party at the Hamilton Park Hotel in Florham Park. John Migliaccio, President and owner of The Pool & Spa Place in Cranbury and current Metro President, had the privilege of hosting the festivities honoring Lieutenant Brian Brennan of Howell New Jersey.
Lt. Brennan was overseas in Afghanistan at war on May 7, 2008 when his vehicle (Humvee) hit an explosive device that killed everyone in the Humvee except for Lt. Brennan and his gunner. Lt. Brennan suffered cardiac arrest, multiple fractures and traumatic brain injury. He returned home a double amputee.
In November 2008, The Metro Chapter learned of Lt. Brennans story and wanted to help. Metro Chapter pool builders joined forces to build a therapy pool for Brians continued rehabilitation. The project was completed in July 2009.
Lt. Brennans passion to give back and help others facing the same struggles he endured has led to the establishment of the Brennan Stands Alone Foundation. The Foundation was created to ease the burden of routine stress for those injured in the line of duty and who have sacrificed for our country so they can focus on treatment and rehabilitation.
