The Church of Christ, Scientist is designed to make the healing and educational system known as Christian Science available and accessible to everyone. Christian Science enables us to understand our relationship to a loving God and our relationship to each other. This understanding improves our lives, our communities and the world. First Church of Christ ,Scientist of Atlantic City was incorporated in 1905 and erected in 1910. This smaller edifice was later taken down and a much larger church was built. This church had a seating capacity of 457 in the main auditorium, and approximately 200 in the Sunday School rooms (which were constructed in 1929 at a mere cost of $150,000, compared to todays costs). We merged with Second Church of Christ, Scientist, Atlantic City, 1958. We later sold our original church edifice and property on Brighton Avenue. During the time our new church was being remodeled the Masonic Temple of Atlantic City, came to our aid and our church held services in their temple for several years, until we moved to our present location in Chelsea Heights section of Atlantic City in 1982.
