Restaurant L has been a community destination for many years. Back in the days when Allendale's streets were covered in cobblestones, local men would saddle up to the Turnpike Tavern to share a pint while their horses were being re-shoed. The Tavern saw celebrations and laughter, inside jokes and a flock of local characters who could be found at the trusty solid oak bar any night of the week. With the decrease in horseshoe traffic, the Turnpike faced hard times, but the spirit of the patrons never diminished. When the Restaurant L team overtook the space, there was opportunity to revive the neighborhood and bring the lighthearted nature of the Turnpike's patronage to our kitchen table. Today, our friends and neighbors enjoy the same casual atmosphere of the original Tavern while savoring Restaurant L's innovative new American cuisine.
