Welcome to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church
Two words that are basic to the vocabulary of the Christian Community are Hospitality (philoxenia) and Thanksgiving (eucharistia). These are words that have remained in my mind ever since seminary. I believe they are attributes necessary to the character of the Church, and they are priorities in the spiritual life of the people of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, Pennington.
Welcome to our website. We give thanks to God that you have found us. We hope you will find it inviting; but more importantly we hope you will come and join us for worship and community. Our sacred goal will be to offer you hospitality as we celebrate the Holy Eucharist together, giving thanks to God for the presence of the risen Lord in our midst.
Our mission is to be a community centered in Jesus Christ; being led by the Holy Spirit; learning and spreading the Good News; while living and sharing the Love of God. We welcome you to join us in our mission.
Staffing Schedule for Lay Readers (with readings), Acolytes, Ushers, Prayer Partners, and Altar Guild
Nov 13 Property Work Day Bring your favorite scrub brush, hammer and screwdrivers, or paintbrush! Some of the projects include cleaning and treating the pews in the Sanctuary, cleaning out the gutters, scrubbing the stove, cleaning out the refrigerators, dusting the air vents, etc.
There are many small jobs that are not covered by our cleaning crew or our outside contractors. This is where parishioners can help defray the cost of maintaining our building by sharing our time and talents. We will provide pizza and sodas around lunchtime. If you have any questions, contact Scott Watterson.
There will be a red wagon in the Narthex to collect non-perishable food items for the Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton. On the first Sunday of each month, these items will be presented during the Offertory along with the bread and wine as part of our sacred act of thanksgiving to God. Wondering what kinds of food to give? Lists are available in the Narthex.
