An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But what if you also need a good doctor?
Now you can have both, an integrated treatment program using both conventional and alternative medicine.
My definition of alternative medicine is:
An understanding of health and illness with origins in different indigenous models of how the body works and, therefore, of what needs to be done to keep the body functioning well.
I am a physician with extensive training both in Western medicine and acupuncture, and able to offer my patients proper diagnostic evaluations and treatment options that are usually not available to them. It is estimated that there are over 300 different forms of alternative medicine in at least 20 categories. Although I do not practice all those different forms, I am knowledgeable about many or can refer to other practitioners who are credible and capable in their fields in such areas as herbal medicine and body work etc.
I work closely with a clinical herbalist, Dale Bellisfield, RN, [www.herbaldale.com]who has over 10 years experience and training in Chinese, Western and Native American herbal approaches to health. Currently she is at the Siegler Center for Integrated Medicine at Saint Barnabas, and has worked and lectured at various hospitals and health care settings in the tri-state area. After a initial consult she is able to make an assessment and offer herbal, supplement, nutritional and lifestyle guidance and formulas. The herbs are chosen to suit the needs of the patient, and all prescription medications are reviewed for potential interactions.
