A Truly Unique Learning Environment
For the first-time observer, a classroom at Mastro Montessori Preschool and Elementary School near Red Bank, New Jersey, is unique and fascinating. Here, our preschool and elementary school children move freely from work area to work area, selecting materials and taking them to a table or a mat on the floor to study. Each child works on an activity for as long as it holds his or her interest. The child then returns everything to its proper place all without disturbing classmates who are busy doing the same, working independently and learning through exploration.
All of our classrooms consist of multi-age groups led by Montessori-trained directresses who provide a learning environment that complements a child’s innate inquisitive nature and allows them to grow as independent, self-directed learners.
Sound like a dream? Not at all. It is the proven Montessori philosophy in action.Come see for yourself the beauty of the children who are given the opportunity to explore interests at their own pace in our prepared environment. You will see the talent, intelligence, maturity, and creativity of our students.
The philosophy behind The Montessori Method is to respect each childs individuality and to provide a learning environment that encourages and nurtures his or her natural abilities. At Mastro Montessori, your child will thrive.
Young Montessori students practice writing with sharpened pencils and put them back in their place when the task is complete.
Tactile beads are one of the Montessori materials used to help students understand math.
With the Montessori method, children have the freedom to think for themselves. Instead of reinforced learning of facts, they can discover what works the best for them, not what a teacher dictates.
